Who We Are...

IATSE Local 631 was chartered over 100 years ago in December 1924.

Welcome to IATSE Local 631

Proudly serving Central Florida’s entertainment industry since 1924, IATSE Local 631 represents the highly skilled stagehands, technicians, and artisans who bring live events, theater productions, conventions, and broadcast media to life. Our members work behind the scenes at major venues, theme parks, and production facilities across the region, upholding the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and craftsmanship.

As part of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists & Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories, and Canada [IATSE], we are committed to supporting fair wages, safe working conditions, and continuing education for our members. Whether you are a producer in need of an expert crew or a worker seeking to join a strong and supportive union, we invite you to learn more about who we are and what we do.

Together, we make the magic happen—behind the scenes and beyond.

Today's productions require professional stagehands to possess a diverse and highly sophisticated set of skills to meet the needs of an entertainment industry that utilizes advanced materials and innovative technology to bring to life breathtaking theatrical performances, live music events, as well as film, television, and streaming productions. Everything from local community events, to Broadway Productions, to Major Studio Film Productions, and Network Television Broadcasts. And we do it all with the safety of the performers, backstage personnel, and, of course, you, the audience patron, foremost in our minds.

In addition to the breadth and depth of their talents and skills, IATSE Local 631 workers excel in working in an environment of "permanent impermanence and rigid timelines". Much of our work involves one-day live events in which the event is built (usually from the ground up). The performance begins on time, proceeds without flaws, and then is dismantled and loaded back into trucks. With the entire process taking about twenty-four hours.

As the saying goes, “the show must go on,” and we make sure it does.

*IATSE Local 631 is affiliated with the Central FL AFL-CIO, FL AFL-CIO, and IATSE District 14.
